Life at OPENLANE: Q&A with Brody Perrine, Group Product Manager

Brody’s favorite aspect of OPENLANE is the people. Learn more about his journey, wins and the relationships he’s made along the way below.

What has your journey at OPENLANE looked like?

I had some friends that worked here who reached out when a position opened up. I started off in a Product Owner role doing a lot of data integrations, a lot of flows. I got to learn Simulcast and a lot of the back-end auctions and operations. Now, I have shifted from the physical auction side to our digital marketplaces.

What are you most proud of during your time at OPENLANE?

One big thing that I worked on that I’m proud of is our enterprise checkout initiative – we’ve created a more efficient way to checkout and pay online. It’s that toe in the water of, “what can we do in a digital space?”

What do you like the most about working at OPENLANE?

The people. That’s what I love about product – you work with business leaders, sales, marketing, engineers. You see the beauty in perspective that every person can bring. Plus, they just make the quality of the job so much better. On long days, when trying to solve customer pain-points or faced with challenges, if you’re surrounded by great people, it makes the process easier and more rewarding.

What is your favorite aspect of technology?

How rapidly it grows and changes and how that bleeds into never having the same day. I’m always on my toes and learning.

What is the best career advice you’ve ever heard?

Put the people first and the results will be fantastic. You can take someone who doesn’t know a certain skill, give them the proper support and what they produce can amaze you.

What is your favorite book of all time?

Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Altman – it really shows the beauty and fragility of life. It holds a special place in my heart.
