Janice Dyer has done it all – from reconditioning vehicles to sales and even accounting. Read more about her exciting career growth with ADESA in the Q&A below.
What has your journey at ADESA looked like?
I just celebrated my 34th anniversary with ADESA. My first job was doing reconditioning work—make a car look good inside and out so it’s more appealing to both dealers and consumers—and now I work in the accounting department. In between that, for 15 years, I logged the vehicles when they came into the auction. Then in 1999, I moved inside and worked on multiple commercial customer accounts. Then in 2008, I made the switch to accounting.
What is something you are most proud of during your time with ADESA?
Being employee of the month in 2015.
What do you like the most about working at ADESA?
The people and teamwork. We are like one big family.
What’s a piece of advice for newcomers to the company?
First off—give yourself some grace. We’re a niche industry, and you are not going to learn everything overnight. A lot of learnings comes by doing, but we’re also a team and here to help. And second—try to get involved in as many departments as possible. That way, you will learn the whole process for our business and what we do. Last but not least, you have to have motivation to be successful.
