From waiting on an ADESA Indianapolis GM at a local restaurant to evolving into an ADESA Commercial Account Manager, Jason Badami reflects on his time and career growth with ADESA. Read more on his journey in the Q&A below.
What has your journey at ADESA looked like?
I was working at a local restaurant where I often waited on the former general manager of ADESA Indianapolis. I provided good service—which led to him asking if I wanted a job. There, I started off working as a marketing assistant. I did that for a while and then switched to supporting one of our biggest customers. About 30 days into the job, I was running the account.
I ran that account for a year or two, then moved into IT. After that role, I was in online sales and then the Transportation Manager, and then back to running that large customer account. I was later promoted to Fleet Lease Manager and did that for 12 years. Now, I’m the Commercial Account Manager.
What is something you are most proud of during your 20-year tenure here?
Getting “Auction of the Year” through US Bank for Ford.
What do you like the most about working at ADESA?
The culture and team atmosphere. It has made working at ADESA a great fit. Also, the diversity in the working environment; I get to sit both behind a desk and work outside.
What’s a piece of advice for newcomers to the company?
Be patient with yourself in learning everything and make sure you have an encouraging team. I think what has made us so successful at ADESA is our teamwork and the trust we have in each other. In our work environment, there are many people involved across many different roles working together toward the same end goal of helping our customers be more successful—and it requires a lot of trust. You cannot do everything yourself, so trust is huge.
