Life at OPENLANE: Q&A with John Lee, Business Intelligence Manager, TradeRev

John Lee was employee #1 at TradeRev. He jokes that through the years, his title changed so much he stopped ordering business cards. Along with those changes came rewarding growth. Read about his time with us below.

What has your journey at TradeRev looked like?

Busy and rewarding. I was employee number #1 and joined in the super early start-up mode. I was doing project management, QA, support, sales, admin work—you name it. Then, I was a Senior Team Lead for the analytics team. My career was going towards being a mixture of a Product Manager and a Data Analyst. Somewhere along the lines, I stopped ordering business cards because my title changed so much. It was just a constant change. Now, I’m a Business Intelligence Manager and the job touches a lot of things that resonate with what I love.

What is something you are most proud of during your time at TradeRev?

TradeRev as a whole and the impact that it has had. I’m very proud that I was there at the beginning and helped it get off its feet.

What is the best career advice you’ve heard?

Don’t sacrifice goodness for perfection. An imperfect something is better than a perfect nothing.

Who are three people you’d have on your zombie apocalypse team?

My wife, son and Superman. He’ll just fly us over the zombies.
